End-of-year wrap up

Last day late shift at work

As 2023 is coming to a close, it’s time top wrap up the year and prepare for 2024.

In many ways, 2023 was a good year for me and my family members. Some personal goals have not been achieved, but 2023 has paved the way to achieve them in 2024 (… I can explain it well, huh).

  • My goal to sketch 1000 faces was too ambitious…I think i did around 100
  • I was king for one day (The figurine was in my 3 king’s cake).
  • Cleaning an inking pens continued, also reviewing them and blogging on pennen2020.com.
  • I celebrated my 50th birthday: on my birthday I ordered my grail pen: Montblanc Meisterstück 149.
  • Rummaging through the flea market for vintage pens in order to restore them… turns out to be not so obvious. I managed to obtain some old ones such as a Pelikan MK10, Parker Flighter 25, Parker 45, Pelikan 400 …
  • Sketching and playing (read ‘having fun’) with fountain pens (and also one I did with a ballpoint pen) continued.
  • My love for ‘old looking’ pens holds on.
  • I bought perhaps the most beautiful pen I have in my collection: the Pilot E95S Burgundy Ivory 💖
  • I changed the Pennen2020.com into PeacockPens.com, also my insta 💥changed.
  • I got my grail pen that I ordered in January: the Montblanc Meisterstück 149. I discovered that I have a lot of questions about this pen, but I will come back on this in 2024.
  • Nothing special to mention about May …hmmm.
  • Another beautiful fountain pen added, oh so proud I have this one: the Waterman Carène Marine Amber 💖
  • Visited the Dutch Pen Show (…strange I only have picture from the hotel): I think it was at that moment that I started to realize that just collecting fountain pens wasn’t what I wanted to do next. I want to do something creative with it… Although I did buy one pen that is worth mentioning: the Pilot Custom 823.
  • I bought a new bike 🏍: the Triumph Bobber. A large part of my life has revolved around motorcycles. There have been few periods when I didn’t have a motorcycle. I’ve always had a preference for English brands, in this case Triumph.
  • We discovered that nacho’s was our most appreciated apero snack hmm
  • My mind was only with my bike … I think summer months are less fountain pen friendly? No?
  • My eyes are looking for beautiful urban places to sketch later…again those influencers
  • New running shoes … for running 🦵. As you get older, you start to worry a little more about your health. The intention is to be a bit more sporty and to eat healthier.
  • I’m back at sketching… .
  • Thanks to some youtubers I follow, I discovered the water sketching technique of course combined with the use of a fountain pen. That’s why they’re called influencers 😅
  • My first fountain pen with a fude nib (Sailor Profit Jr. +10). This nib is really crazy, I’m so happy with it.
  • My first encounter with an Asian hornet brrrr…
  • Watercolour sketching all the way in, oh this is so much fun. Adding layers, step by step to come to a nice result is so amazing
  • Doing my Christmas cards in watercolour was so much fun, now everyone expects to receive one 🙂
  • Actively blogging again to share experiences and be part of a community couldn’t be a better way to end this year. I’m already looking forward to 2024 for blog posts from you and to exchange ideas and experiences. I’ve already looked at a few blogs, you’re doing a really great job!
