Not that they’re sleeping, but I thought it would be fun to use the pens that are inked to quickly practice sketching.

Normally, I stick to an average of eight fountain pens that are filled with ink. This way it is nice to vary and also not to have to write with the same ink all the time. Two fountain pens are filled with waterproof ink, with these pens I have to be extra careful to prevent the ink in them from jamming the fountain pen. I don’t really have any experience with waterproof ink, but I think it’s wise to only use two fountain pens permanently.

The sketches you see are just an exercise for myself to be able to quickly sketch an impression of something on paper. It’s not a perfect art, just an exercise. It’s fun to do: just open pinterest (or any other social media platform) and try to sketch out what you come across. Don’t worry if something doesn’t work out, just keep doing it.
You’re probably curious which pens I used for this, well here they are:
- Kaweco Special brass, inked with Kaweco midnight blue (cartridge)
- TWSBI Eco-T Royal Jade inked with Montblanc mystery black (piston)
- Sheaffer Prélude inked with Jacques Herbin Emeraude de Chior (converter)
- Parker 51 inked with Visconti blue
- Platinum Curidas inked with Montblanc blue homage to Napoleon
- Lamy Scala inked with Online bronw kombi
- Montblanc Meisterstück 149 inked with Montblanc Irish green
Pens with waterproof ink:
- Lamy Vista inked with Rohrer & Klingner Lotte (cartridge)
- Sailor Profit Jr. inked with Platinum Carbon
To keep track of all my pens, ink and how my pens rotate, I use Notion for it, but I come back to this later.
In any case, if you want to try this sketching exercise yourself, enjoy, I’m definitely curious about the result 🙂
